Jack Milwid

Jack Miles Milwid graduated in 2005 from the Colorado School of Mines with an Sc.B. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering with High Scholastic Honors, and a minor in Honors Public Affairs. He is now a student in the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology pursuing a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Medical Engineering.

His research broadly involves the application of engineering principles to the development of technologies relevant to the characterization and optimization of tissue regeneration. Specifically, Jack is working with microfluidic arrays of fluorescent reporter cells designed to allow for dynamic tracking of gene expression in the presence of soluble and microenvironmental stimuli. This research is intended to elucidate key factors in the time-dependent expression of genes specific to pathological states in the liver, including cirrhosis and steatosis.

When not working in the lab he enjoys cycling, rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, and telemark skiing.
